I, TARZAN BY JEAN-PHILIPPE SOULÉ

“Dreams aren’t fantasies to keep in the back of our mind, they are lifegoals to be pursued.”

The stereotypical notion characterizing most Alpha Males, while often granting to them many admirable leadership traits, rarely includes the description of an ultra-self-aware individual. Jean-Philippe Soulé exemplifies the epitome of an apex Alpha Male, physically gifted and trained to the maximum standards commanded by the French Mountain Commandos. Atypically, and due largely to his maturing perspective and conscious efforts at betterment, Mr. Soulé also developed the introspective objectivity of a meditating monk. Thus, this book recounting his early years before becoming a world-class traveling adventurer might better be titled: I, More Than Tarzan. For, in truth, Jean-Philippe Soulé puts Tarzan quite to shame – both physically and certainly mentally.

With that general introduction to I, Tarzan, the mesmerizing early memoirs of Jean-Philippe Soulé overcoming a seemingly endless array of setbacks and disappointments, I must stress that this man, this adventurer, this author eventually exceeds all the expectations of his superiors, his peers, and his followers. His powerful and succinct writing style matches perfectly his compulsive physical development and his compulsion for adventure. Together with an agile and acutely observant mind, Mr. Soulé reveals to the spellbound reader what mighty aspirations might be realized through dedication, perseverance, and unremitting determination. However, what marks all of these revelations with the stamp of authentic, hard-earned wisdom is the conclusion that such accomplishments result not from physical endurance alone, but more from an enduring mental discipline. In the end, “It’s all in the head.” A masterful lesson from the master of achieving one’s greatest dreams.
