Before I comment on this surprisingly fun and provocative read, I must clarify my inherent bias as the editor of a profound series on consciousness/existence/bliss that deals with the same issues on a high-brow level. The message in Error is equally profound, even though Stanislav Stodulka’s treatment targets a more general audience and is especially perfect for those encountering the subject for the first time, as long as we emphasize that it is immensely profound. The book’s subtitles are vital for understanding its contents: The Hidden Programs of the Human Body – Master Your Mind, Break Free from Autopilot, and Redefine Conscious Living. Such self-help attributions, while accurate, do little to convey how incredibly fun the author makes this whole process.
What sets Error (with its long subtitles) apart from other books written in the same vein is the spotlight Stanislav Stodulka shines on those perceived program errors. That is, they are not errors at all. They need not be fixed at a fundamental level. They exist for a specific and vital purpose: to help the body survive, develop, and prosper. The problem arises from our responses or lack thereof, turning the spotlight from the so-called errors to their active subjects – ourselves. This is where the immense profundity comes in because now we must consider the ultimate existential question: Who am I? While that may seem too philosophical for a presumed self-help book, it remains the key element for doing what the subtitles promise. One can almost hear the author proclaiming, “Gotcha!” Still, that does not diminish the fun one iota, while a final leap for consciousness would have nailed the landing.
