Reminiscent of the positive portrayals of country people offered in the film The Horse Whisperer, Jeff Turner’s masterful evocation and heartwarming celebration of genuine humanity in his deeply touching, highly comforting novel The Horseman Who Came From The Sea is equally rewarding. The experience of a close-knit family sitting down to a glorious, home-cooked feast — portrayed well in the film but better in Turner’s novel — evokes the same feelings of inclusion, comfort, and generosity of spirit within the reader.
